Keyboard controls

Keyboard Edit moves an editing cursor. Crawl moves the party. Shortcuts change with the active mode.

Edit with the keyboard

1. Press K to enter Keyboard Edit with Tile Stamp selected.
2. Use WASD to move the cursor. Hold two keys together for diagonal movement.
3. Choose a visible palette slot with 1 to 9 or 0.
4. Press Enter to apply the selected action.
5. Press Tab to cycle Tile Stamp, POI Tool, and Eraser. Shift+Tab cycles backward.
6. Press K again or Escape to leave Keyboard Edit.

Use bare movement keys. Shift is not required.

Each step moves to one neighbouring hex. Hold keys to repeat. Press diagonal combinations together; a brief combination window joins staggered presses.

Horizontal steps go south from even x columns and north from odd x columns, including negative columns. Reversing A/D retraces the previous step. W or S overrides that zigzag direction.

Opposing keys cancel their axis. Movement stops when you release the keys, change mode, or leave the editor controls.

Select tools

In Keyboard Edit and Crawl, S moves south. Press E for Eraser. Select Tile Stamp with its button or cycle tools with Tab in Keyboard Edit.

Palette shortcuts work when the palette is visible. Numpad digits select the same slots; 0 selects slot ten.

Empty slots do nothing. Terrain selection retains Brush when active; otherwise it selects Tile Stamp. POI selection retains POI Tool.

Roll and Explore

Use Crawl options

1. Press C to enter Crawl.
2. Press L to toggle Follow party, H to show or hide the token, or Shift+X to toggle Autoexplore.
3. Alternatively, use Tab or Shift+Tab to select an option, then Enter to toggle it.
4. Press C or Escape to leave Crawl.

Navigate and undo

Use Reset view in the status bar to reset pan and zoom.

Editor shortcuts pause while you type in a field or use a modal form. Text undo and redo remain available.
